Frequently Asked Questions

What is the UW Homebrewing Club?

bullet

We are an organization founded in the Fall of 2002 who's focus is on the technique of home beer and wine making.  Our meetings include taste tests, brew days, instruction, and other brewing related activities.

Who can join the Homebrewing Club?

bullet

The Club is open to anyone in the community but specifically to UW - Madison undergrads.

Do you have to be 21 to make beer and wine at home?

bullet

NO!  You do not have to be 21 to make it or buy the supplies for it.  You do not have to be 21 to be in the club.  By state law you do have to be 21 to consume alcohol.

How much will this cost me?

bullet

You can buy the basic equipment and brew your first batch of beer or wine for under $30.  Once you have the equipment you only have to pay for ingredients.  A batch of homebrew is cheaper and tastes better than commercial beer and wine.

Who do I contact for more information?

bullet

Contact the club president Ben Johnson at bsjohnson2@wisc.edu
